Plant operator is responsible for supervising the Air Separation Unit to ensure production meets customer demands. The duties include starting up, shutting down, and maintaining the unit to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime, as well as ensuring the integrity of stored and shipped products. Operator is expected to proactively develop innovative solutions that promote efficiency and a safe working environment. It is required to work in rotating shifts according to schedules set by the Production Manager and oversee plant operations using a DCS interface within the control room. The Air Separation Unit operates 24/7.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the smooth production of volumes required, while monitoring the output and quality of the manufactured product

  • Take responsibility for people, property and environmental safety, as well as risk prevention, and compliance with health regulations.

  • As part of a team and under the supervision of the Production Manager, start, shut down and adjust equipment, and perform needed checks, etc.

  • Adjust plant control variables, monitor and manage process equipment parameters to meet production specifications and targets

  • Obtain a knowledge base of the theory of air separation and related equipment associated with the process

  • Develop skills to troubleshoot, evaluate process upsets and take corrective actions

  • Troubleshooting the causes of plant operational issues and alarms, either directly or in conjunction with the local team

  • Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant and equipment

  • Prepare and maintain production operations and distribution records to meet internal and external requirements

  • Handle daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet reading

Skills required

Knowledge/Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Automation / TEI or higher

  • Experience in a production line is a plus

  • Good command of risk management and prevention

  • Solid grasp of health and safety rules

Soft Skills

  • A strong focus on Safety - Demonstrating responsibility and accountability

  • Good judgment & keen on taking initiative

  • English language

  • Very good at seeking information

  • Good communication skills (inter departmental, team members, vendors, etc.)

  • Executing productivity ideas and Best Practices to keep plant costs down. Interacting closely with all the supporting groups/personnel for performance optimization and troubleshooting

  • PC Literate
